mastercard x ups - fixed address

BRANDS: MASTERCARD + UPS

PROBLEM: One of the biggest barriers to housing, employment, and benefits for homeless individuals is not having a mailing address.

INSIGHT: For homeless individuals, an address isn’t just a location; it is access to a system that has excluded them.

SOLUTION: UPS stores become official registered addresses for unhoused individuals, giving them access to everything they have been denied, such as job applications, voting, SNAP, and Medicaid. Mastercard provides a physical card for proof of address.

Outdoor Posters

Our outdoor posters pointed out the oppressive cycle, known as the address paradox, that prevents unhoused Americans from opportunities like job applications, bank accounts, government IDs, and more.

Info Handouts

To reach our audience of unhoused Americans, we had informational cards handed out at shelters and food banks.

(front)

In order to reach the most people, we placed the cards on food trays to ensure they were dispersed thoroughly.

Agentic AI Kiosks

Our agentic AI-guided kiosks helped walk individuals through the process of setting up their accounts. It then stores the account information in a digital database using Mastercard’s crypto credential blockchain, which also allows government agencies and employers to quickly verify the address.

NFC Tap Cards

(back)

Our NFC tap cards are printed at the first visit, providing individuals with both physical proof of address and access to their account. Using a W3C format, the card can automatically open up each person’s account at any UPS store in the U.S. just by tapping it to the kiosk.
